Whenever one is rewarded for their effort, it is always a beautiful and a proud moment. It was no different for the Coca Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) Programme participants when their graduation came.
The objective of the programme is to equip the collectors/SMEs with business development support. The purpose of the business development support is to provide growth orientated support that will help them to be more sustainable in the long run. The deliverables included a high-level gap assessment of main business needs.
This group of participants showed incredible commitment to learning and investing into their businesses and they truly deserve to be proud and excited.
The completion of this leg of the programme has marked an important step in creating a world free of waste, especially in schools where the habit of reckless littering is first developed, and where a converse culture of recycling and care for the environment can be nurtured, says Tsholofelo Mqhayi, Head of Enterprise and Community Development at CCBSA.
As the implementers of the Programme, Tushiyah Advisory Services (Tushiyah) was tasked to equip the SME Collectors with business development support. The purpose of the business development assistance is to develop growth-orientated strategies that will help them to be more sustainable in the long-term using a high-level gap assessment of their core business needs.
Abigail Khuluse, Director at Tushiyah congratulated the group reminding them that the 2018 saw more waste being collected which symbolises growth. She continued to say, We are proud to be part of the team and be associated with that as we partner for growth in all we do, a pledge to recycle a used bottle or can for each one the company sells by 2030. She then went on to thank CCBSA for the opportunity. (For more on her speech: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jqLcQD5U7Q)
A graduation ceremony was held in Johannesburg at CCBSAs Bedfordview training centre and was attended by Tushiyah team, dignitaries from the Department of Environmental Affairs and representatives from CCBSA.
