What Tushiyah did

Project #1

Loeriesfontein Business Centre Refurbishment: The appointment of qualified local contractors / service providers; limited locally based small business contractors in the region; and community unrest due to the possibilities of appointing non-local contractors.

Project #2

Loeriesfontein sports field upgrade: The appointment of qualified local contractors / service providers; specialised services; some material / equipment was procured locally, and what was not available locally were procured from other nearby towns.

Tushiyah managed the process of appointing a Project Management (Consulting Engineer) partner from the Northern Cape region to oversee construction, engineering and implementation of the Business Centre and Sportsfield. The process of Project Management was inclusive of the following interventions:

• Advertisements of the tender opportunity to local sub-contractors.
• Managing site visits, evaluation of bidders and shortlisting.

What was the outcome?

Project #1

Business Centre upgrade: Four local sub-contractors benefited from the project as direct contractors. Sub-contractors were assisted to be compliant in accordance with legislator and client requirements. There were valuable learnings by the contractors due to the training and mentorship support provided by the construction mentor.

Project #2

Loeriesfontein sports field upgrade: Two local contractors benefited from the project and local labourers were hired which contributed to employment stats for Loeriesfontein. Successful completion and handover of the sports field to the local authorities and community
